Funding the library and monitoring the finances are two of the library trustee's primary responsibilities...but few trustees have training in public finance or experience with the use of public funds. This webinar with cover the basics of the laws governing the use and management of public funds, Fiduciary Duty, as well as information on the responsibility that library trustees have for ensuring that their library is funded to accomplish the mission it is tasked with.

Participants in this session will be able to:

  • Discover the Michigan State legal requirements for the use of public funds.
  • Identify the financial policies and procedures their library should have in place.
  • Identify their authority and responsibility over library finances as determined by their establishment law.
