Summary

Digitizing public records is a great way to improve access and preserve them over time, but there are many considerations before undertaking a digitization project. This session will provide an overview of the process, benefits, and areas of concern when digitizing library's public records.

Description

Board Minutes, Financial Statements, and Agendas are just some examples of the many public records that libraries maintain. But it can be difficult to find and share information in analog form. Digitizing public records is a great way to improve access to public records, both for library staff and the public, but there are many factors to consider before digitizing your public records. This session will provide an overview of public records and their requirements for access, how to plan and execute a digitization project, and legal and privacy considerations for providing access to digitized content.
