Want to increase access to your collections but don't know where to begin? Join us for our Digitization Basics series and get ready to start scanning!

Description

Digitization is a great way to increase access to your collections and help preserve them over time, but digitized materials require sufficient metadata to ensure their management, discoverability, and use. Join Biz Gallo, Statewide Digitization Initiatives Coordinator at the Library of Michigan, for the sixth session in the Digitization Basics series. In this session, Metadata for Digital Collections, you will learn why metadata is important, understand different types of metadata, and explore common metadata schemas and controlled vocabularies for describing digital content.

Instructor: Biz Gallo, Statewide Digitization Initiatives Coordinator, Library of Michigan

This project is made possible by grant funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the State of Michigan through the Library of Michigan.
